Spotding music #6 by The Green Lives

Tænke at det var tid til lidt mere musik på bloggen og denne gang er det det danske band The Green Lives der kommer med et par gode musik bud til din weekend. De beskriver deres egen musik som “Bright and airy pop music with a timeless sound and an organic expression”. De er lige nu aktuelle med sangen ‘Merfolk’ (2012), som jeg synes er så fint. Lyt til det HER! The band says about their song; “The closing track on our forthcoming EP due to release later this Spring. The song is about striking gold and becoming dazzled by greed at the expense of your surroundings. The message here is universal, but this particular song was inspired by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010”

I was thinking that it was about time for some more music on the blog. This time it is the Danish band TThe Green Lives who shares their favorite songs for your weekend. They describe their music as “Bright and airy pop music with atimeless sound and an organic expression.” They new recently song is called  ‘Merfolk’ (2012), which I think is so great. Listen to it HERE! The band says about their song, ““The closing track on our forthcoming EP due to release later this Spring. The song is about striking gold and becoming dazzled by greed at the expense of your surroundings. The message here is universal, but this particular song was inspired by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010”

Listen to their 5 favorite songs (click on it to listen to it via youtube):

A day is never completely grey after listening to this track
Like a cool summer breeze, this smooth and subtle song immediately puts me in a trance. Paul Simons lyrics and flow and his signature way of combining speak and voicing is at a whole other level. Also, to me, it’s one of those rare occasions (along with Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’) where the chorus effect on the guitar actually benefits the song (!). (Bonus info: It’s probably Johannes’ and my go-to song when harmonizing)
The fantastic album ‘Beaucoup Fish’ is possibly my single biggest inspiration
This song has a special energy and tension that completely blew my mind when I first heard it. It probably has a lot to do with his fantastic voice and their direct approach to their instruments
To me, Band of Horses will always be a great inspiration because of their great songs and apparent joy of playing live. Their concert at Roskilde Festival in 2008 is something that I will always cherish
Encore:
Well, Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys simply wrote great songs and this is merely one of them
The albums ‘The Good Life’ and ‘Zitilites’ make up the soundtrack of our teenage yearsª
