Fashion Week season is over and on top of that a lot of things has happened for me lately. I went to Milan Fashion Week for the first time and had such a great experience. I’ll share some pictures with you soon. I also started a new exciting job on Monday (that’s why I haven’t been blogging this week, sorry!) I will tell you more about the job very soon. I will of course still continue my blogging, films so much as I can and of course my daily updates on instagram @spotding. THANK YOU so much for following -you are the best! These lace trousers is vintage but I would love to find something similar new because they are kind of broken:/ I have suggested a few  for you below – just click on them to purchase. I’m also happy that my sister gave me her old Nike trainers. They are so comfy and not so much seen in London as in Copenhagen! thanks Signe!

Jerry Schatzberg

Jerry Schatzberg

jerryschatzberg

Just came across photographer & film director Jerry Schatzberg’s pictures again. I am very familiar with his photos and I simply love them. Not only their are great pictures but also the artists that he captured in especially the 60′s & 70′s are a huge inspiration to me. Faye Dunaway, Edie Sedgwick and Bob Dylan to mention a few. In these pictures I love the checked shirt/scarf & hat in picture 1, Really cool look. Also I have always been a fan of the beret hat which Faye Dunaway are wearing in these pictures. Another trend which is back right now is the small silk scarfs also seen here. I am hoping to wear some B/W checked/ dots soon – look at those three ladies! I have attached a video below where Jerry Schatzberg & film director Mike Figgis are talking about fashion films – wish I could be in NYC next week! but I will be there in April, ahhh can’t wait! What is the must see? x

Designspot: Common Interview

Designspot: Common Interview

common4

I am inspired by both women’s and mens fashion and these two designers behind the Swedish brand COMMON have in my opinion something special going on. That’s why I have asked them a few question to get to know more about their brand. I also love their previous collection where they presented prints on bumper jackets and cool caps, which I could see myself wearing. I believe there are much more to come from COMMON and I can’t wait to see how they transform their design into women’s fashion too.

Common Interview with the Swedish designers Saif Bakir & Emma Hedlund

Fiona Jane: You have previous worked with Kanye West, Wooyoungmi, House of Holland, and COS. What made you decide to start your own fashion brand?

It was when we helped sett up Kanye’s studio and label in Paris that we came to realize that we could be doing the same thing for us and this triggered the desire to run our own label. So when Kanye decided to move the studio to London we thought it was time for us to set up Common.

FJ: What is the inspiration for your AW14 collection?

The AW14 collection is inspired by the engineered, polished and purified world seen in Andrew Niccol’s Gattaca film, where the past and future are combined and interconnected to create a perfect balance of classic sartorialism and modern aesthetics

FJ: What have happened for the Common brand since 2009, when you won the H&M and Swedish Elle’s newcomer award?

We won the award January 2013. Its not long ago but we have since then pick up a few other awards including the NEWGEN MEN where we got there opportunity to showcase during London Collections: Men in January

FJ: You both studied in London, so what are your favorite inspirational hang outs there?

London is a great place for inspiration. Its very dynamic, divers and multicultural so really anywhere you go there is always something that would inspire.

FJ: Are you planning to design women’s wear one day?

We do get that question quite often. Emma did actually graduate from BA womenswear at Central St Martins and did the womenswear at Kanye so the knowledge and possibility is definitely there.

FJ: Congratulation that you received the Topman-sponsored NEWGENMEN support at this season’s London Men’s Collections. What are your expectations for the next season?

Thank you! we are very grateful for the support we have received Topman and The British Fashion Council. Our AW14 collection was well received and hope that we can do an even bigger and stronger collection in the coming season.
